SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager will support all aspects of accounting management including assisting with the formulation of internal accounting policies and controls, while continuously establishing best practices. This role will also support executive management and ensure compliance with official and internal guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a passion for tackling challenges, finding solutions to difficult problems and is a highly detailed self-starter.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the preparation and consolidation of financial statements
  • Monitor and analyze financial accounting data
  • Assist with developing and maintaining internal accounting controls and policies
  • Perform general ledger review and exception research with reconciliations
  • Enforce proper accounting policies and processes to ensure compliance with accounting standards
  • Research accounting issues for compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Support all aspects of accounting management (billing, reporting, tax forms)
  • Utilize the accounting systems to facilitate processes and maintain records
  • Assist in review and processing of weekly accounts payable, and receivables
  • Prepare financial reports based on data analytics, historical trends or projections
  • May assist with creating budgets for departments and projects, and integrating findings from other tasks
  • Oversee assigned financial accounts
  • Familiar with acquisition and business unit combination accounting methods
  • Lead system and process improvement initiatives
  • Provide support to the executive team and respond to inquiries
  • Follow proper accounting procedures to reach financial objectives
  • Establish workflows and make recommendations for streamlining accounting procedures
  • Can oversee daily tasks, provide training, and support the accounting close process
  • Provide leadership and managerial guidance to a small team, when applicable

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 3-5 years of experience in a financial leadership role
  • Has held a supervisory or management role within an accounting team
  • Computer literacy complemented with comfort with learning new systems
  • Advanced Excel and/or Access skills
  • Ability to extrapolate, manipulate and analyze data
  • Understanding of financial and managerial reporting (balance sheet, and income statement reports)
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
  • Ability to bring new ideas and concepts to the accounting/finance department
  • Highly organized with attention to detail

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to perform primarily sedentary work, frequently using a computer (visual acuity, fine motor skills) and telephone (talking/hearing)
  • Read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to drive and handle the physical demands of travel

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time temporary position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
