We have an opening for an Intern – Employee Benefits Practice in our Dallas, TX office for Summer 2025.We are seeking a candidate who is driven, introspective, quick, analytical, accurate, and friendly. SUMMARY:

As an Employee Benefits Intern, you will gain valuable real-world work experience from an insurance brokerage and risk management consultancy, with a national presence and an international reach. You will learn about employee benefit trends for organizations ranging from 100-5,000 employees across all industries. You will work with seasoned Client Coordinators and Client Managers on managing client questions, proposals, marketing, rate negotiations, sales and service support, including claims resolution.

The Plexus Groupe summer internship program will run from June 2nd through August 1st, 2025. As part of our internship program, you will work across various departments on team projects and cross-functional intern initiatives.
Each summer, Plexus partners with the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers’ (CIAB) on their scholarship program allowing one Plexus intern to apply to win a monetary award towards their college education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Handles incoming calls from assigned clients regarding benefit questions, claim issues, eligibility, billing, and other support issues.
  • Coordinates with medical and ancillary carriers to ensure the timely resolution of client issues.
  • Market coverages for existing business renewals and new business. Marketing information includes gathering census and experience information, plan designs, rates, and previous carrier information.
  • Reviews marketing options from carriers and provide plan options, based upon client needs, via a proposal spreadsheet.
  • Works with carriers to ensure the timely processing of case submissions.
  • Works with carriers to ensure ID cards are received by the client in a timely fashion.
  • Supports Client Manager with enrollment materials, information, and presentations for meetings with clients.
  • Supports other team members and takes calls when other team members are unavailable.
  • Attends client meetings when necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program is required. Majors in Insurance, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Candidates should be entering their junior or senior year of college.
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Be a self-starter.
  • Possesses analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Learns quickly.
  • Enjoys teamwork and cultivating relationships.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has work experience demonstrating strong technical and / or client service skills
  • Has a passion for solving problems and sharing solutions to exceed the standards of the client.
  • Possesses excellent Microsoft Excel skills, with intermediate knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to perform primarily sedentary work, frequently using a computer (visual acuity, fine motor skills) and telephone (talking/hearing)
  • Read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to lift and carry client files
  • Handle the physical demands of travel

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time temporary position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
